Slovene Doctors and Dentists Start Striking on Tuesday

Ljubljana, 18 March - Despite a last minute call by the Slovene government, which urged doctors on Monday not to go on strike, Fides, the trade union of dentists and doctors, confirmed today that doctors would start striking on Tuesday. However this will be no classical strike, as doctors opted to work only 40-hour weeks, just like other employees in the public sector, to highlight the severe shortage of doctors in the country, the main reason why they have to put in too much overtime.
