Kucan and Madl Discuss EU and NATO Integration, Co-operation and Minorities

Moravske Toplice, 28 March - Slovene President Milan Kucan said that Slovenia and Hungary are on the same path leading towards the EU, and highlighted the importance of the convention on the future of Europe. Kucan spoke to the press after having opened a new international border crossing between Slovenia and Hungary at Cepinci/Ketvoelgy together with his Hungarian counterpart Ferenc Madl. The two presidents also discussed Slovenia's bid to join NATO as well as various aspects of Slovene-Hungarian relations. Madl said it was also in the interest of Hungary for Slovenia to receive an invitation to join NATO this autumn.
