Podbregar Assumes Top Intelligence Office on Saturday

Ljubljana, 1 June - Iztok Podbregar, the outgoing ministerial adviser on national security, officially assumed the office of director of the Slovene Security and Intelligence Agency (SOVA) on Saturday. The move follows the surprising government dismissal of Tomaz Lovrencic, who wanted to step down, citing persnal reasons. While according to official information he is to assume a post at the Foreign Ministry, unofficial media reports have suggested that he is to become Slovenia's new ambassador to Spain.
