Ljubljana, 3 June - Schedule of events in the week from 3 to 9 June:

MONDAY, 3 June
LISBON - Slovene President Milan Kucan is to attend a two-day seminar entitled A Political Model for a 21st Century Europe upon the invitation of Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio. Kucan is to adress the meeting on Tuesday and hold bilateral talks with Sampaio.
MADRID - Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is to meet Spanish counterpart Miguel Arias Caneta to discuss final EU accession negotiations on agriculture.
BRUSSELS - The Slovene-EU subcommittee for economy and finances is to review Slovenia's progress in the field. Slovenia's delegation is to be headed by the head of the Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) Janez Sustersic.
MADRID - Slovenia is to hold a week of Slovene culture, wine and cuisine until 8 June in Madrid, Spain. The week is to be launched by a Mladinsko Theatre performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, which is also to be attended by Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But and his Spanish counterpart Miguel Arias Caneta.
LJUBLJANA - A retired U.S. senator William V. Roth is to visit Slovenia upon the invitation of Slovene Speaker of Parliament Borut Pahor. Roth is to meet Slovene Defence Minister Anton Grizold. On Wednesday, he is to be received by Slovene FM Dimitrij Rupel. President Milan Kucan is to confer a Silver Mark of Freedom upon him on Thursday.
LJUBLJANA - A conference on the information society is to be held by the Information Society Ministry and the European Commission. The two-day ministerial meeting is to be attended by representatives of EU member states, candidate countries and Southeastern Europe.
ZAGREB - A Slovene-Croatian subcommission for fishery within the border co-operation and traffic agreement is to convene to discuss the issue of the Croatian mussels-breeding ground in the middle of Piran Bay.
TRIESTE - A court hearing against Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB) is to begin. The Trieste Credit Bank is suing NLB for a return of deposits totalling at 40,675bn Italian liras, which NLB had in the Trieste bank in September 1996 and were withdrawn in October of the same year. The Trieste bank, which filed for bankruptcy in November 1996, claims that the deposits should be included in the bankruptcy funds.

TUESDAY, 4 June
MADRID - Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is to conclude his visit to Spain. on the final day he is to visit the International Council for Olive Oil.
LJUBLJANA - Former Bank of Slovenia Governor France Arhar is to give a press conference on his announced candidacy at the autumn presidential race.

WEDNESDAY, 5 June
LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission to investigate the background of the attack on Vecer journalist Miro Petek is to convene in the parliament.
LJUBLJANA - A spring session of defence attaches accredited in Slovenia is to last until Friday.

THURSDAY, 6 June
BRUSSELS - The Convention on the Future of Europe, convening for two days, is to be attended by Slovene representatives.
BRUSSELS - Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is to attend the first European agriculture convention.
BRUSSELS - Slovenia is to attend the second European business summit dedicated to entrepreneurship and permanent development in an enlarged EU.
LJUBLJANA - Regular weekly government session.

FRIDAY, 7 June
MUNICH - Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek is to attend a two-day economic summit entitled Europe after Enlargement.
BRUSSELS - Slovene Defence Minister Anton Grizold is to attend the regular semi-annual meeting of counterparts from NATO states and partner countries.
BRUSSELS - Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But is to meet with representatives of the European Commission Directorates for Agriculture and Enlargement as part of his two-day working visit to Brussels.

SUNDAY, 9 June
LESCE - Members of the first Slovene government are to convene for a meeting.
KOCEVSKI ROG - A memorial ceremony and a 13th annual mass for the victims of the extrajudicial killings after WWII is to be held on the site.
