Double Italian Triumph in Kayak and Canoe World Cup Meet

Kobarid, 9 June - The opening World Cup white water kayak and canoe meet in Trnovo ob Soci, NW Slovenia, saw a double triumph for Italian competitors. Robert Pontarollo thus took first place in the kayak competition, while his compatriot Vladi Panato was victorious among the canoeists. The two Italians were followed in second by Slovene competitors, namely Jaka Jazbec in the kayak and Borut Horvat in the canoe competitions. The women's canoe event was taken by Michala Strnadova of the Czech Republic.
