Delo Looks into U.S. First Strike Doctrine

Ljubljana, 12 June - The global defence budget amounts to US$ 800 billion. The U.S. defence budget accounts for almost half of the sum, and that of its allies a good third. The world should feel safe, as most weapons are on the side of the explicitly good, Delo comments on U.S. shift away from the Cold War policy of containment and deterrence to a doctrine of preemptive strikes against terrorists and hostile states with chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.
