Lipizzaners Once Again Stir Emotions in Slovene Parliament

Ljubljana, 18 June - Slovenia has included the Lipizzaner horse as an indigenous breed on a list that has been submitted to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). This list is also the basis for any further reference by the European Commission on indigenous breeds in Slovenia, Slovene Agriculture Minister Franci But told Tuesday the parliamentary committee on agriculture, rejecting claims by the Slovene Association of Lipizzaner Friends that the horse is not on the EU's list of indigenous Slovene breeds.
