Opposition Parties Assess Drnovsek's Desision to Run for President

Ljubljana, 18 June - Following the announcement of Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek on Friday that he would step down and run for president in autumn, opposition leaders on Tuesday commented the possible consequences of the decision for Radio Slovenija. Convinced that the government reshuffle would not go smoothly, Janez Jansa of the Social Democrats (SDS) thus claimed that Drnovsek is refusing to be prime minister now that Slovenia faces some problems, while Andrej Bajuk of New Slovenia (NSi) said he was surprised with the decision, and Saso Pece of the National Party (SNS) assessed it as irresponsible and an insult to Slovene citizens.
