World Refugee Day - NGOs Critical of How Slovenia Treats Refugees

Ljubljana, 20 June - As the world celebrates World Refugee Day on 20 June, which focuses this year on women refugees, 2,307 persons with temporary residence in Slovenia are waiting to have their status permanently settled with a new act on temporary asylum, which is to come into parliament procedure by the end of this year. Since gaining independence in 1991, Slovenia only granted asylum to 41 persons.
