Delay in EU Enlargement Would Be Unacceptable, Slovene and European MPs Say

Brussels, 20 June - The EU enlargement process should not be delayed, was the general opinion voiced during Thursday's session of the joint parliamentary committee of Slovenia and the EU in Brussels. Confidence that there would be no delays was also expressed by European Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen, while Slovenia's Europe Minister Janez Potocnik emphasized that any delay would be unacceptable. Slovenia has made a considerable effort to be ready for membership on time and now believes that the EU would fulfil its committments too, Potocnik said.
