Magazine That Helped Slovenia to Independence Celebrates First 20 Years

Ljubljana, 20 June - Nova revija (New Magazine), a magazine for politics and literature, celebrated its 20th anniversary on Thursday. One of the speakers at the celebration was also Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, who was the magazine's editor when the legendary 57th issue came out in 1987, which was a kind of a roadmap for Slovene independence. As a result, Rupel and Niko Grafenauer, the current editor, were dismissed, and Slovene poet Boris A. Novak took over the editorial post.
