STA Coverage on Saturday, 22 June

Ljubljana, 22 June - The STA English service will cover the following events on Saturday, 22 June:

SEVILLA - EU leaders are due to meet with their counterparts from EU candidate countries upon the conclusion of a two-day Sevilla summit to discuss the planned enlargement of the 15-nation bloc. Slovenia will be represented by Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek, who will also be joined by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel. Drnovsek is expected to speak to members of the Slovene press at 4 PM CET.

KOCEVJE - The coalition United List of Social Democrats (ZLSD) is to convene at 10 AM for a third conference after its congress last year to examine economic and social policy in the country. Contrary to earlier announcements, the delegates of the party's highest body between two congresses are not expected to name the party's candidate for the autumn presidential elections.

ZALEC - Delegates of the first conference of the opposition New Slovenia (NSi) are expected to discuss this year's local elections and the future of Slovenia in the EU. A statement for the press is expected in the afternoon.
