Ljubljana, 27 June - The STA English service will cover the following events on Friday, 28 June:

BRUSSELS - Slovenia and the EU are to hold a new round of negotiations on agriculture, however talks will be restricted to certain topics only, as the EU has not yet adopted a common negotiating position on the key issue in the agriculture chapter - participation of newcomers in the direct payments scheme.

PIRAN - The standing Slovene-Croatian commission supervising the implementation of the bilateral accord on border traffic and co-operation is to hold a regular meeting, finishing with a press conference around 1 PM. The agenda is not yet known, but it is expected that the commission could discuss the issue of the disputed mussels-breeding grounds set up by Croatia in the bordering Piran Bay.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of European Senates, presided by the Slovene National Council in 2002, is to hold a meeting to discuss outlooks for bicameralism in Europe. The event is to be attended by senate presidents from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Ireland, Russia, Belorussia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.

LJUBLJANA - Shareholders of Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB), Slovenia's largest bank, are expected to convene for the annual general meeting to make the final decision on the division of last year's balance sheet profits, changes to the bank's statute and the discharge of supervisory board member Rudi Gabrovec. NLB chairman Marko Voljc is to give a statement to the press at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovene Statistical Office is to hold a press conference at 10 PM to present first estimates on GDP growth for the first quarter of the year, as well as the latest economic and social indicators.
