European Senate Presidents Warn of Democratic Deficit in the EU

Ljubljana, 28 June - Today's discussions proved that a two-chamber parliament system means a higher degree of democracy, the participation of a larger number of people and a better contact of authorities with citizens and the civil society, Slovenia's National Council President Tone Hrovat told the press after the conclusion of the official part of the meeting of the Association of European Senates, which was held in Ljubljana on Friday. Hrovat also revealed that the association added two new members today, namely the upper chambers of the Bosnian and Russian parliaments.
