Helsinki Monitor: Slovenian Candidate Unfit for ICC Judge

Ljubljana, 5 November - The Helsinki Monitor of Slovenia, a human rights organisation, opposes the candidacy of Bostjan M. Zupancic for an International Criminal Court (ICC) judge. The Monitor believes that Zupancic is not suitable for the position that requires high moral values as well as political independence and objectivity. As an incumbent judge of the European Human Rights Court in Strassbourg he has acted as a protector of the state and not as an independent protector of human rights, claims the organisation.
