New Record Highs Set at the Ljubljana Stock Market

Ljubljana, 9 November - After several weeks of pharma stocks carrying the Slovenian benchmark index SBI 20, the stocks of the household appliances producer Gorenje took initiative last week at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE). This was mainly due to the publication of the company's successful business results in the first nine months of 2002 and speculation about a possible takeover. The main benchmark index SBI 20 thus saw record values, finishing the week at 3,547.64 points, up 3.43 percent from the previous week.
