Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 9 to 15 November

Ljubljana, 16 November - As the conclusion of EU negotiations draws nearer, and an invitation to join NATO is ever closer, Slovenian politics were so busy making last-minute preparations that their activities almost overshadowed the presidential elections. Unsurprisingly, Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek and Supreme State Prosecutor Barbara Brezigar will face-off in the presidential run-off on 1 December. Amidst the hustle surrounding EU, NATO and the presidential race, the Chess Olympiad wrapped up quite timidly and low-profile, although is considered the biggest sporting event that SLovenia has ever hosted.
