LJUBLJANA/BRDO PRI KRANJU - U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld is to pay a brief official visit in the morning. The invitation to join NATO extended to Slovenia at the Prague summit will be in the focus of talks between the U.S. official and Slovenian President Milan Kucan, PM Janez Drnovsek, Defence Minister Anton Grizold and FM Dimitrij Rupel. Rumsfeld is expected to speak to the press at around noon at Brdo Castle.

KRSKO - A rescue drill in case of a nuclear disaster "NEK 2002" is to take place in the southeast of Slovenia. A number of measures pertaining to the protection and rescue in such situations are to be examined as well as the overall procedure in case of a nuclear disaster at the Krsko nuclear power plant (NEK). A statement to the press is expected late in the afternoon.
