CO2 Tax Amended to Further Reduce Pollution

Ljubljana, 25 November - The Slovenian Environment Ministry decided to amend the 1997 tax on CO2 emissions, as the extant regulation did not do enough to change the attitude of the polluters, Environment Minister Janez Kopac told the press on Monday. Moreover, the money obtained will be more precisely targeted at pollution reduction projects, and is now in line with EU regulations and demands of the Kyoto Protocol, he explained.
