Parliament Debates Whether Mayors Enrich Parliamentary Benches

Ljubljana, 30 October - Discussing changes to the general election act, the parliament will on Thursday decide whether MPs can be mayors at the same time. The initiative was raised by a National Party (SNS) MP in a bid to prevent a legislators from abusing their position for lobbying for narrow local interests. The home policy committee, which already examined the proposal, recommended to parliament that the amendment be rejected. A vote is expected later in the day.
