Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 1 to 7 November
Ljubljana, 8 November - Top news of the week was certainly the eagerly awaited EU report on Slovenia's readiness for membership. The country came out on top of all acceding countries, getting only one serious warning. Facing EU entry, Slovenia still has problems with its neighbour Croatia. An expanded Croatian mussels farm in the Piran Bay evoked a protest from the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, while a publicity stunt of a Croatian politician marching up to a disputed hilltop where Slovenia holds army barracks was regarded as an incident. Slovenia is also still looking for international support regarding Croatia's ecological and fisheries zone.
