Metal Industry in for a Tough Year

Ljubljana, 9 November - The Slovenian metal industry employs over 46,000 people. The sector posted revenues of almost SIT 900bn (EUR 3.8bn) in 2002, which makes it the largest industry in manufacturing. The situation is somewhat more bleak this year as output has decreased in the first seven months of the year, largely as a result of the lacklustre performance of EU markets, the sector's main export destination.
