Ljubljana, 10 November - Schedule of events in the week from 10 to 16 November:

MONDAY, 10 November

LJUBLJANA - Europe Minister Janez Potocnik and EU ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere are to present the latest European Commission report on Slovenia's readiness to enter the EU, to the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and the European affairs commission.

LJUBLJANA - Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych is to start a three-day official visit. He is scheduled to meet with a number of top officials, including PM Anton Rop, President Janez Drnovsek and FM Dimitrij Rupel.

VIENNA - Defence Minister Anton Grizold is to start an official two-day visit to Austria. He is to meet with his Austrian counterpart Guenther Platter and deputy chief of staff of the Austrian Armed Forces, Colonel General Wolfgang Spink.

LJUBLJANA - The council of the coalition Liberal Democracy (LDS) is to convene to look into topical issues and set down internal rules for European Parliament elections. Meanwhile, FM Dimitrij Rupel and Europe Minister Janez Potocnik are to present their view on Slovenia's status in the EU.

ANKARA - A Slovenian business delegation is to start a five-day visit to Turkey. Headed by chairman of the international co-operation sector at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) Tanja Rupnik, the delegation is set to attend business conferences in Ankara, Konya and Bursa and visit several Turkish companies.

LJUBLJANA - The Institute of European Studies is to stage a press conference to present the international conference Days of European Law, taking place between 21 and 23 November.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The EU's council on competition is to convene for a regular session, with Slovenia represented by Economics Ministry State Secretary Matjaz Logar and Education Ministry State Secretary Zoran Stancic.

KIEV - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andrej Logar is to take part in a meeting of foreign ministers, examining the promotion of cross-border co-operation in Central and Eastern Europe.

LJUBLJANA - The "Italian Week" is to start as part of the "Ljubljana Through European Eyes" exhibition, which has been organised by the Ljubljana City Museum.

LJUBLJANA - The Italian priest don Pierino Gelmini, the founder and head of Incontro communities, a network of centres for the rehabilitation of drug addicts, is to pay a five-day visit to Slovenia.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Bishops' Conference is to convene for a regular autumn meeting.

TUESDAY, 11 November

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The European Commission is to release a shortlist of priority transport projects for the next few years. Slovenia has been making efforts to include on the list the Trieste-Koper-Ljubljana-Budapest rail line, which is listed among 29 transport projects that the EU is to focus on in the near future.

TALLINN, Estonia - Foreign Ministry State Secretary will represent Slovenia at the regular political consultations with Estonia.

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Samuel Zbogar is to receive Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs Lincoln Bloomfield and Richard Kidd, the acting director of the State Department's Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement.

POLJCE - The Centre for Defence Training in Poljce is to host the 4th annual conference of heads of training centres in Partnership for Peace countries.

ROGASKA SLATINA - The Slovenian Ethnological Association is to confer the Murko Award for extraordinary achievements in ethnology to Janez Bogataj.

CELJE - The Public Health Institute is to present a comprehensive publication on suicides, entitled "Slovenia with or without Suicides".

WEDNESDAY, 12 November

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to receive Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers for relations with the EU and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Vladimir Chizhov.

LJUBLJANA - The parliament's foreign policy committee is to examine the bill on the ratification of a Slovenian-Croatian agreement on the simplification of border control in road and rail transport.

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the Cypriot parliamentary foreign policy committee is to pay a visit to Slovenia. The MPs are to hold talks with Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor and meet with Slovenian lawmakers.

LJUBLJANA - The International trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) is to stage a press conference to present the institution's half-yearly report and plans for the future.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Chief of Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Ladislav Lipic, is to attend the regular annual meeting of NATO chiefs of staff.

LJUBLJANA - A press conference ahead of the 5th Slovenian Business Conference, which will examine opportunities for growth in an enlarged Europe.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences is to stage a celebration to mark the institution's 65th anniversary.

LJUBLJANA - Writer Drago Jancar is to chair a debate on cultural polycentrism in the wake of Slovenia's EU entry, which is to be attended by Culture Minister Andreja Rihter, poet Andrej Brvar and others.

CELJE - The Slovenian premiere of the latest feature film by actor/director Branko Djuric, "Cheese and Marmalade" (Kajmak in Marmelada).

THURSDAY, 13 November

LJUBLJANA - Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski is to arrive on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Slovenian counterpart Janez Drnovsek. In addition to holding talks with PM Anton Rop and Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor, Kwasniewski is also to attend a business forum examining ways of improving bilateral trade.

SALZBURG, Austria - A delegation led by Agriculture Minister Franci But is to attend the second European Conference on Rural Development.

BERLIN, Germany - Europe Minister Janez Potocnik is to pay a visit to Germany.

LJUBLJANA - The Regional Environment Centre for Central and Eastern Europe is to hold a workshop on public participation in strategic assessments of impacts on the environment.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian E-forum, an environmental NGO, is to stage an international conference entitled "Changes in the Energy Paradigm: EU Markets and Alternatives".

MORAVSKE TOPLICE - The spa manager Terme 3000 is to stage a press conference to present the company's business results and unveil investment plans.

LJUBLJANA - Weekly government session.

FRIDAY, 14 November

LJUBLJANA - European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Pedro Solbes is to pay a visit to Slovenia. Meetings with Finance Minister Dusan Mramor and Bank of Slovenia Governor Mitja Gaspari are scheduled.

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Prime Minister Anton Rop and FM Dimitrij Rupel are to attend the final day of the congress of the European Liberal Democrats (ELDR).

SATURDAY, 15 November

ROGASKA SLATINA - The coalition People's Party (SLS) is to convene to elect the new party leadership. Vying for the post of president are Justice Minister Ivan Bizjak, MP Janez Podobnik and head of the Agriculture and Forestry Chamber Peter Vrisk.

ZAGREB, Croatia - National football teams of Slovenia and Croatia will play the first leg of the playoff for a spot at the Euro 2004.
