Schedule of Events for Friday, 14 November

Ljubljana, 13 November - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 14 November:

LJUBLJANA - European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Pedro Solbes is to pay a visit to Slovenia, with talks expected to focus on EMU enlargement and the introduction of the euro in Slovenia. Together with Finance Minister Dusan Mramor, he is to speak to the press at 11.30 AM. Solbes's agenda also includes meetings with central bank governor Mitja Gaspari (10.30 AM), PM Anton Rop (11 AM), and GZS chair Jozko Cuk and managers (2.15 PM). A lecture at the Economics Faculty is scheduled for 4 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski is to finish a two-day official visit after giving a lecture at the Faculty of Law (10 AM) and attending a Slovenian-Polish business conference at the GZS at 11.25 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Speaker Borut Pahor has called a meeting of deputy group leaders for 10.30 AM to discuss whether to include the National Council into the bill regulating the cooperation of government and parliament after Slovenia's EU entry. At 11 AM, the parliament's collegiate body is to convene to decide on the agenda of the next regular session. (STA)

PORTOROZ - Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade Karien van Gennip is to pay an official visit. Together with Slovenian Economics Minister Tea Petrin, a press conference is to be given at 11.30 AM. The two ministers are to attend a conference entitled "Business Logistics 2003".

ZAGREB, Croatia - At 1 PM, managers of Slovenia's and Croatia's national football teams will speak to the press ahead of Saturday's match. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The government Office for Structural Policy and Regional Development is to give a press conference at 10.00 AM.

LJUBLJANA - At 11.30 AM, SDS leader Janez Jansa is to speak to the press about topical issues.

BLED - A two-day conference on copyright and the media is to gather experts from SE Europe. The event is to begin at 3 PM, and is organised by Slovenia's UNESCO commission.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A three-day session of the European Liberal Democrats (ELDR) congress is to finish, with Slovenian FM Dimitrij Rupel expected to address the participants.

POSTOJNA - Environment Minister Janez Kopac and Istrabenz CEO Igor Bavcar are to speak to the press at 2.30 PM upon the signing of a concession contract on the use of natural riches of the world-famous Postojna Caves.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - Behind closed-doors, Days of Slovenian Bankers 2003 are to begin. The two-day event is organised by Slovenia's Bank Association, and is to discuss Slovenia's banking systems after the country's EU entry. A press conference is to take place on Saturday.
