Deputy Group Head Podobnik to Lead People's Party

Rogaška Slatina, 15 November - The head of the People's Party (SLS) deputy group Janez Podobnik has been elected the new president of this junior coalition partner. In Saturday's extraordinary election congress held in the spa resort town of Rogaska Slatina, Podobnik garnered a strong majority in the first round as 120 delegates voted for him. His closest rival was president of the Agriculture and Forestry Chamber Peter Vrisk who received 55 votes. Ivo Bizjak, the Justice Minister in the government, got 14 votes.
