Gov't Amends Maritime Code

Ljubljana, 4 December - Changes to the maritime code were adopted by the government on Thursday and sent to parliament for fast-track adoption. Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andrej Logar told the press the code was amended mostly because of the conclusions of the recent Venice conference on sustainable fisheries in the Mediterranean. If adopted, the changes will create a legal basis to declare maritime zones, a right to which Slovenia is entitled by international law.
