Banks Oppose the Newly Proposed Introduction of Interest Taxes

Ljubljana, 11 December - The introduction of taxes on bank deposit interest, foreseen in the new income tax bill, could reduce the competitiveness of Slovenian banks and lead to people deciding to move their money to foreign banks. The supervisory board of the Slovenian Banks' Association has proposed that the part of the income tax bill that refers to interest tax be implemented only after Slovenia enters the euro zone.
