Simsic Authorises Collection of Signatures for Mosque Referendum

Ljubljana, 30 December - Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic has set down the period in which opponents of the construction of a mosque on the outskirts of Ljubljana have to collecct almost 11,000 signatures if they wish to force a local referendum on the issue. Although she authorised the collection, Simsic, who has spoken strongly in favour of the mosque, vowed she would do everything in her power to prevent the referendum from taking place even if its proponents get enough signatures.
