Slovenians to Vote on "Erased" Bill in mid-February

Ljubljana, 30 December - Lawmakers have confirmed that Slovenian voters will head to the polls on 15 February of next year to vote on the "technicalities bill" dealing with people erased from the population register in 1992. Responding to a call by 30 lawmakers, the National Assembly was in effect forced to call a referendum. In the end, the call was confirmed in a 37-to-5 vote, with 30 lawmakers abstaining. Lawmakers opposing the referendum have already collected the necessary signatures to take the referendum declaration to the Constitutional Court.
