The anniversary of cancelling the Albanian language media: Freedom of expression

Ljubljana, 11 August - The union of journalists of Slovenia and the Association of journalists of Slovenia have issued a special statement to the public on the anniversary of cancelling the Albanian language program at RTV Priština and suspending the newspaper Rilindija. In the statement, the organizations state that around 1500 Albanian journalists and other media people in Kosovo are still left unemployed, some of them also being imprisoned because of their professional activities. The union and the journalist association of Slovenia condemn such actions of the authorities in Kosovo and Serbia, and demand that freedom of expression and the right to objective and critical information be immediately reinstated.
