The Demands of the Italian Neofascists for a revision of the border are politically absurd

Ljubljana, 12 August - The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has sent us its standpoints in association with the visit of the Italian Neofascist Party in the Republic of Serbia, where the main talks concerned a revision of the border between Italy and Yugoslavia. The MSI-DN (Movimento sociale italiano - Destra nazionale) publicly stands for a revision of the Yugoslav Italian border in their political activities, and for the fact that Istria and Dalmatia once again belong to Italy after the disintegration of Italy. In the statement of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia,it also writes that: "In the Basic Constitutional Document on the Independence and Sovereignty of the Republic of Slovenia, Article 2, it is written that the state borders of the Republic of Slovenia are internationally recognized state borders of the present SFRY with the Republic of Austria, the Republic of Italy and the Republic of Hungary, at the parts where these states border with the Republic of Slovenia. With this, the Republic of Slovenia has clearly testified to the principle of the inviolability of the internationally recognized state borders of the present SFRY. In the period after the plebiscite and after the declaration of Slovenian independence and sovereignty, the responsible state representatives of the neighboring Republic of Italy (as well as Austria and Hungary) publicly stated that they will respect the state borders even in the case that their legal inheritor becomes the state of Slovenia instead of the SFRY.
