Peterle and Kohl about the situation in Yugoslavia

Ljubljana, 16 August - Ljubljana, August 16, (STA) - The President of the Slovene Executive Council Lojze Peterle departed for Gilgenau on Thursday on the invitation of Germany's Chancellor Helmut Kohl. The two heads of state met in Kohl's summer residence by Lake Volgan. The central theme of the discussions was the increasingly tense situation in Yugoslavia and Slovenia's efforts in achieving international recognition. Special emphasis was laid by the two leaders on the Slovene economy, in which Slovenia's Premier expressed thanks to Germany's Chancellor for the speedy renewal of the loans extended by the Hermes company from the FRG. These loans play a key part in Slovenia's international economic ties.
