Kučan met with a special emissary of the European Community

Ljubljana, 17 August - Yesterday evening at the Castle of Strmol near Ljubljana, President of the Presidency of the Republic of Slovenia, Milan Kučan, met with Ambassador of the Netherlands in Paris, Henry Wijnaendts, a special emissary of the European Community. The statesmen spoke about the possibilities of continuing talks on the resolution of the Yugoslav crisis. In a statement following the one hour talk, special emissary Wijnaendts stressed that his meeting with President Kučan was productive, and he plans to meet with the presidents of all the other republics. Slovenian President Kučan stated that, in regard to the question whether Slovenia is prepared to negotiate on the future relations between Yugoslav republics, replied that it is in Slovenia's interest that these talks as well as the gradual transferral of the Federations functions to the bodies of Slovenia take place. Help from the so-called experts of the European Community will be of vital importance.
