Rop Says Slovenia Supports Conservative EU Fiscal Policy

Ljubljana, 21 January - The Slovenian government has adopted a standpoint on the EU budget period for 2007 through 2013, saying that it supports a conservative fiscal policy. The capping of the budget at 1.24 percent of the gross national product (GNP), the government believes, is a suitable ceiling because the entry of new members will mean that this figure would result in a budget of similar volume to now, Prime Minister Anton Rop said on Wednesday.
