Handball: Results of Round One

Ljubljana/Celje/Koper/Velenje, 22 January - It was a good start for the favourites at the European Men's Handball Championships on Thursday. All the big names secured victories: Russia over Switerland, Sweden against Ukraine, Croatia over Spain, Denmark over Portugal, and France against Poland. The only exception was the German team, which lost to the hot-and-cold team of Serbia-Montenegro. Meanwhile, the home team got off to a strong start, overcoming the favoured Iceland team on the back of an emphatic finish.
