Handball: Results of Round Two

Ljubljana/Velenje, 24 January - Teams from groups A and B played their second round matches of the preliminary stage at the 6th European Men's Handball Championships on Saturday. Defending European champions Sweden notched up their second win, cruising past Switzerland 35:24 to go to the top of group A standings. Russia also bagged its second win in group A, overcoming Ukraine 29:27. Meanwhile, in group B, Spain put their last-second loss to Croatia behind them, outplaying Portugal 33:27. Croatia won another tightly-fought affair, overcoming an early deficit to beat Denmark 26:25. The reigning world champions now lead group B.
