Ljubljana, 1 February - Schedule of events in the week from 2 to 8 February:

MONDAY, 2 February

BRDO PRI KRANJU - The 10th meeting of Slovenian diplomats is to begin. Slovenia's membership of the EU and NATO, as well as the related tasks of diplomacy is to top the agenda of a three-day event.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - Working visits are to be paid by Polish FM Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz and Italian FM Franco Frattini. Both are to attend the 10th meeting of Slovenian diplomats.

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is to convene for an emergency session to discuss, in second reading, a systemic bill on the erased.

LJUBLJANA - President of the Constitutional Court Dragica Wedam Lukic is to presents the court's work in 2003.

LJUBLJANA - Representatives of the Trade Union of Farmers are to meet with Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Vlado Dimovski.

LJUBLJANA - Goals of the National Environment Protection Programme are to be presented to the public.

LJUBLJANA - Ljubljana-based pharmaceuticals company Lek is to present its business results for 2003.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian military diplomats accredited abroad are to gather for a five-day meeting at the Ministry of Defence.

TUESDAY, 3 February

BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - A working visit is to be paid by German FM Joschka Fischer. He is to meet with several Slovenian officials and attend the 10th meeting of Slovenian diplomats.

LJUBLJANA - The GZS is to organise a meeting of Slovenian business people and diplomats, as part of the 10th meeting of Slovenian diplomats.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Agriculture Minister Franci But is to meet with European Commissioner for Agriculture Franz Fischler.

LJUBLJANA - The project dubbed "Slovenia among the Leading in the World" is to be presented by Economics Minister Tea Petrin, GZS head Jozko Cuk, and the project managers.

IZOLA - A press conference on a new international film festival, "Isola Cinema - Kino Otok", to run from 25 to 29 May, is to be held.

WEDNESDAY, 4 February

BRDO PRI KRANJU - President Janez Drnovsek and PM Anton Rop are to host a reception for the diplomatic corps.

LJUBLJANA - Views are to be exchanged in a public debate on the Draft Resolution on the National Energy Programme.

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Speaker of the Parliament Borut Pahor is to attend the 16th meeting of the European Parliament president with speakers from acceding and candidate countries.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Representatives of three Slovenian parties, SLS, SDS and NSi, are to attend a congress of the The European People's Party (EPP), focussing on preparations for the June elections to European Parliament.

LJUBLJANA - A ceremonial session is to mark the 140th anniversary of Slovenska izseljenska matica, an organisation focussing on Slovenian emigrants. On this occasion, it is to be decorated by a state order by President Janez Drnovsek.

NOVO MESTO - In the 12th round of the Euroleague, Krka is to take on Unicaja Malaga in group B, at 8.40 PM.

THURSDAY, 5 February

LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - Slovenian MP Alojz Peterle is to chair a conference "The European Big Bang - What Is Small and What Big?".

MENGES - Ljubljana-based pharmaceuticals company Lek is to open a new production unit. Addresses are to be delivered by President Janez Drnovsek and SAZU head Bostjan Zeks.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to hold its weekly session.

LJUBLJANA - In the 12th round of the Euroleague, Union Olimpija is to play Lottomatica Rome in group A, at 8.40 PM.

FRIDAY, 6 February

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia - PM Anton Rop is to pay an official visit to Slovakia.

MUNICH, Germany - FM Dimitrij Rupel and Defence Minister Anton Grizold are to attend the 40th internatzional conference on security policy.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary European affairs commission is to debate a bill on the cooperation between parliament and government after Slovenia joins the EU, and changes to the act on the election of Slovenian lawmakers to European Parliament.

SATURDAY, 7 February

LJUBLJANA - On the eve of the Day of Culture, a national ceremony is to mark the holiday, with the Preseren Award and the Preseren Fund Awards being given out to the most meritorious in culture.

SUNDAY, 8 February

LJUBLJANA/CERKLJE - A number of events are to mark the Preseren Day - Slovenia's Day of Culture. Culture Minister Andreja Rihter is to host a reception for the Preseren Award and Preseren Fund Awards winners.
