PM Rop: Tobacna's Closure Has Nothing to Do With EU

Ljubljana, 2 February - Prime Minister Anton Rop has reiterated the claim that Slovenian business will face new opportunities and risks once the country joins the EU. However, Rop denied that the scrapping of production at cigarette maker Tobacna Ljubljana had anything to do with EU entry. Meanwhile, unions and the Tobacna management reached an agreement on severance pay for the 260 workers that are expected to lose their jobs as a consequence of the measure taken by Imperial Tobacco, the majority owner.
