Ljubljana, 5 February - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 6 February:

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia - Prime Minister Anton Rop is to pay an official visit to Slovakia, to discuss European topics with his counterpart Mikulas Dzurinda. Bilateral relations are also to be discussed, alongside Slovenia's preparations for its 2005 OSCE presidency, and the Middle East situation. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - European Commission President Romano Prodi is set to hold talks with European Affairs Minister Janez Potocnik, Slovenia's candidate for a post in the European Commission. The meeting is a round of consultations Prodi is holding with commissioner candidates from all ten acceding countries. (STA)

MUNICH, Germany - Defence Minister Anton Grizold is to attend an informal meeting of defence ministers from NATO countries and invitees. On Saturday, Grizold is to be joined by FM Dimitrij Rupel. Both are to attend the 40th Munich Security Conference.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary European affairs commission is to scrutinise a bill on the cooperation between parliament and government after Slovenia joins the EU, and changes to the act on the election of Slovenian lawmakers to European Parliament. Session begins at 9 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Director of the Government Office for Money-Laundering Prevention Klaudijo Stroligo is to present the office's work in 2003, at noon. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - At its first emergency session, the National Council is to vote on its initiative to call an early legislative referendum on a systemic bill on the erased. The move comes in a bid to avoid the time-consuming collecting 40,000 signatures necessary to back a referendum initiative on the same bill which was filed by two opposition parties on Monday. For the Council to pass its initiative, at least 21 councillors have to vote in favour. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The collegiate body of the speaker of the parliament is to take a decision on calling an emergency session to set, on the proposal of three coalition parties, a new date for a referendum on the technicalities act on the erased. The LDS, ZLSD and DeSUS believe 4 April should be the date. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - At 9 AM, the value added of mobility in the EU is to be discussed at a conference, to be attended also by Education, Science and Sport Minister Slavko Gaber, Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Vlado Dimovski and EU Ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere.

MARIBOR - A ceremonial opening of a new medical faculty in Maribor - the second of its kind in Slovenia - is to take place at 11 AM. The ministers of education and health, Slavko Gaber and Dusan Keber, respectively, are to attend as guests. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Budapest Mayor Gabor Demszki is to pay a visit to Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic.
