There Will be no Shortage of Staple Foodstuffs

Belgrade, 30 August - The Secretariat of Information of the Federal Executive Council reports that, due to the unstable political conditions and hindrances in the supply system - especially during the past three months, the demand for flour, oil and sugar has increased. Until now, there has been no shortage of these products, nor have their prices risen. The respective government bodies have predicted that the supply of the staple foodstuffs will be sufficient and that due to the general good yield this year, there will even be a market surplus of wheat, while the stores of sugar will suffice to cover the country's needs for the next six months. The stores of oil are also considerable, and the supply of and demand for meat are for the moment still balanced. The only difficulties lie in supplying the market, as thefts during transport have become more frequent during the past few months.
