Washington Treaty Ratified

Ljubljana, 24 February - The year 2004 is historic for Slovenia and represents "the culmination of several years of efforts and the beginning of a new role of Slovenia in the international community". This is what Prime Minister Anton Rop said in his address to the MPs on Tuesday before they ratified the North Atlantic Treaty in a 68-to-3 vote, opening the door for Slovenia to join NATO.
