Transition Period to be Granted in Handling Packaging Waste

Brussels, 27 February - The European Commission has proposed a transitional period for Slovenia and seven other future members in implementing changes to the directive on packaging and packaging waste. This way the countries would have to meet the requirements in processing and recycling of waste packaging by the end of 2012 rather than by 2008.
