Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 21 to 27 February
Ljubljana, 28 February - Parliament had a lively week as it convened for the regular February session. After ratifying the Washington Treaty, opening the door wide for Slovenia's NATO membership, MPs went about adopting laws that need to be implemented before Slovenia joins the EU on 1 May. The opposition broke the routine and spiced up the parliamentary debates on Friday, when it filed an interpellation motion against Health Minister Dusan keber. At the same time, the Constitutional Court brought the issue of "erased" citizens back to the top of the agenda, declaring as unconstitutional a large part of a question that was to be put at a referendum on the systemic bill restoring the rights of citizens that were erased from the permanent residency register in 1992.
