Slovenia, Other Newcomers, Expected to Be Hit by EU Banana Tariffs

Brussels, 5 March - It looks as if Slovenia and the other nine EU newcomers will soon become victims of the banana trade war. As of 1 May, when the ten acceding countries finally join the EU, they will have to adopt Europe's complicated banana import system. Consequently, consumers in Slovenia can expect banana prices to soar, a diplomatic sources at the European Commission has told STA.
