Ljubljana, 23 March - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 24 March:

LJUBLJANA - Continuing its regular session at 10 AM, the parliament is to discuss legislation on corporate income tax and environmental protection in second reading, and the national energy programme resolution. Vote at 8.30 PM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Europe Minister Janez Potocnik, who is Slovenia's candidate for European commissioner, is to pay a working visit to Brussels. He is scheduled to meet Turkish EU Ambassador Mustafa Oguz Demiralp and Reijo Kemppinen, the European Commission spokesperson. A meeting with the deputy group of the European Socialists is also on his agenda.

LJUBLJANA - Israeli Transport Minister Avigdor Lieberman is to begin a two-day working visit. He is to meet his Slovenian counterpart Jakob Presecnik at 9 AM. A press statement is scheduled for 10.45 AM. (STA)

MADRID, Spain - Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor is to attend a memorial service held in remembrance of the victims of the March 11 terrorist attacks in Madrid.

LJUBLJANA - A NATO delegation led by Head of the Planning Section at NATO's Operations Division, Diego Ruiz Palmer, is to wrap up a two-day visit.

LJUBLJANA - The Metal and Electrical Industry Trade Union is to speak about wage negotiations with employers and industrial action at 4 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Energy Association of the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to hold a news conference at 9 AM about Slovenia's energy sector ahead of Slovenia's EU accession. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - A press conference upon the closure of the Slovenian Development Corporation (SRD) is to be held at 11 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Economic and Social Council is to hold a session at 10 AM, discussing among other things proposed quota on working permits to be issued in 2004 set in a decree which restricts foreign workforce on the Slovenian labour market.

LJUBLJANA - The International Relations Association is to host a talk by a former top Yugoslav politician. Head of the Serbia's European Movement since 1999, Zika Kovacevic is to speak about "Serbia on a long journey to Europe".

MARIBOR - A seminar about fraud in the insurance business is to be hosted by the Maribor Faculty of Law and the Police and Security College; begins at 9 AM.

KRSKO - The 1st Slovenian congress of fruit growers is to begin, with Agriculture Minister Franci But to attend.
