Slovenian press overview - Ljubljana, October 10, 1991 (STA)

Ljubljana, 10 October - DELO: Monetary borderline - At this moment of currency unit exchange care should be taken to insure smooth monetary traffic with other republics. The negotiations with Croatia bore no success though the Slovenian government offered solutions acceptable to both parties even before the end of the moratorium. Yesterday's stoppage of all monetary traffic with Slovenia bearing the signature of the Governor of the Croatian bank is evidence enough that a week ago we were either not taken seriously or that the Croats were forced to face reality all too fast. It would be, however, politically wise and even more so economically necessary, writes Mrs. Marjeta Šoštarič, to ensure a level of cooperation with the neighboring republic that would do no harm to any of the parties involved. In the long run we will have to learn how to close bilateral agreements also with former brotherly republics.
