Slovene population census questionnaires declared not valid in Trieste (Trst)

Ljubljana, 18 October - The unitied representatives of the Slovene ethnic minority in Trieste (Trst) visited the city's Vice-Prefect dr. Domenic Mazzurca today. The representatives of the Slovene minority demanded that the authorities recognize the validity of the Slovene questionnaires during the population census. Dr. Mazzurco, though, only repeated the already known viewpoint that the Slovene questionnaires are only meant as a supplement in filling out the Italian forms and that the Italian forms only are valid. The representatives of the Slovene minority lodged a sharp protest against the implementation of such limited methods of restraint on the part of the Italian authorities.
