Slovenian press overview Ljubljana, October 24,1991 (STA)

Ljubljana, 24 October - DELO: Amateurs and dictators - Mr. Tomac keeps telling the Austrian journalists that the Slovenian Tolar is a failure, a diplomatic misdemeanor that should not be initiated by a faction that for the past three years has been making its living by the political capital created by the other one. The interview given by Mr. Tomac for Die Presse and other similar moves instigated by the Croatian politics do pose the question of its credibility, not only in Slovenia but in a wider context, writes Mr. Boris Jež. This last one in a series of Ljubljana - Zagreb "affairs" should perhaps not deserve mentioning if not for the fact that both factions involved are running away from the Balkan chaos claiming out loud that they are in pursuit of European standards in international relations. How can they be taken seriously by a third party if the Vice-president of the Croatian government jeers at Slovenians and the Slovenian Tolar, a move that could be reciprocated already tomorrow by Mr. Ocvirk (what he will not do, opines Mr. Jež) deriding the Croatian Crown or the "reanimation" capabilities of the Croatian economy.
