MEPs from New EU States Have Equal Rights for Top Posts, Pahor Says

Brussels, 5 July - "The fact that I come from a new, small EU member state did not stop me from submitting my candidacy for the president of the European Parliament. Just the opposite, I am firmly convinced that even the newcomers have the right to bid for top posts," said on Monday Speaker of Slovenian Parliament Borut Pahor, who was elected MEP in June. Pahor will today present his candidacy to his deputy group, the Party of European Socialists (PES).
