Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 14 to 20 August

Ljubljana, 21 August - The hot August week was marked with continued political ping-pong between the government and the opposition regarding the interpellation motion. The leading opposition SDS decided to expand the motion by including the issue of the "erased" citizens. The government on the other hand is pushing for a quick calling of the extraordinary session of the parliament. The voters and the media, meanwhile, are increasingly losing interest in the issue. While FM Ivo Vajgl could only report nothing new in relations with Croatia, his predecessor came up with a novel idea on an expert commission to discuss the history of relations between the two countries and Josko Joras, self-proclaimed fighter for Slovenia's southern border, decided to protest government's neglect of the disputed border region by blocking a border crossing with Croatia.
